The Effectiveness of the "Man-Man" Mobile Game on Children's Self-Concept and Self-Esteem

Computer and mobile games can be used to improve children’s mental health. The present study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the “Man-Man” mobile game on children’s self-concept and self-esteem. The research method was quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test with a control group. The study population included all children between the ages of 8 and 10 in Tehran who referred to psychological clinics for mental health monitoring. Of these children, 30 (14 girls, 16 boys) who met the inclusion criteria were selected by the convenient sampling method and randomly assigned into two experimental and control groups (15 children in each). The intervention program was administered for 6 sessions on children in the experimental group. Data were collected using the Rosenberg self-esteem scale and children’s self-concept questionnaire. Statistical analysis of covariance was used for data analysis. The results showed that the “Man-Man” mobile game can increase children’s self-concept and self-esteem. Based on the results of this study, it is suggested to focus on the educational aspects of mobile and computer games and design games that can improve children’s psychological skills.
